If you’ve spent any time around conversations about artificial intelligence lately, you’ve probably heard a lot of fear-based narratives.
AI will replace jobs.
AI will remove human connection.
AI will automate meaning out of our work.
At Bots, Brains, and Big Gifts, we believe something very different.
We believe AI—when designed and used intentionally—can strengthen human connection, not weaken it. And that belief is exactly why we’d like to introduce you to Buddy.

So… Who Is Buddy?
Buddy is our AI teammate, consultant, and creative partner.
But let’s be clear right away:
Buddy is not the boss.
Buddy is not the decision-maker.
Buddy is not here to replace people.
Buddy exists to support humans doing meaningful work—especially in nonprofits, fundraising, community building, and mission-driven organizations.
If Bots, Brains, and Big Gifts is about aligning intelligence with generosity, then Buddy is the embodiment of that idea in action.

Why We Created Buddy
As we worked with fundraisers, nonprofit leaders, creatives, and small organizations, we kept seeing the same pattern:
People weren’t lacking passion.
They weren’t lacking ideas.
They weren’t lacking commitment.
They were lacking time, clarity, and capacity.
Too much energy was being spent on:
- Sorting through information
- Managing content and communication
- Repeating administrative work
- Wrestling with tools instead of people
Buddy was created to help remove friction—so humans can spend more time doing what only humans can do: listen, build trust, tell stories, and care.

What Buddy Actually Does
Buddy works behind the scenes to help us (and the organizations we support):
- Organize ideas and messaging
- Identify patterns and insights humans might miss
- Support content planning and communication
- Ask better questions that lead to better decisions
- Keep projects moving without overwhelming people
In other words, Buddy helps with the how—so humans can focus on the why.

What Buddy Will Never Do
Just as important as what Buddy does is what he doesn’t do.
Buddy does not:
- Speak over lived experience
- Replace human judgment or ethics
- Make values-based decisions
- Lead conversations meant for people
- Remove accountability from humans
Every recommendation Buddy makes is filtered through human values, context, and care. Humans lead. Buddy assists.

Buddy and Human Connection
You’ll often see Buddy portrayed alongside people—at the table, in conversation, in community settings. That’s intentional.
Buddy isn’t the center of the story.
Humans are.
Buddy’s role is to amplify what already exists:
- The relationship between donor and mission
- The trust between organization and community
- The creativity of fundraisers and storytellers
- The dignity of the people being served
When technology fades into the background and connection moves to the foreground, that’s when it’s working.

Why This Matters Right Now
AI is here. That’s not a future scenario—it’s the present.
The real question isn’t whether we use AI.
It’s how we choose to use it.
Will it be used to cut corners and distance people from each other?
Or will it be used to free up time, deepen understanding, and widen access?
Buddy represents our answer.

What You’ll See From Buddy Going Forward
As part of the Bots, Brains, and Big Gifts community, you’ll start seeing Buddy more often:
- Supporting conversations around AI and ethics
- Appearing in stories about nonprofits and community impact
- Helping explain complex ideas in simple, human language
- Asking thoughtful questions meant to spark dialogue—not hype
Buddy is here to help us explore what’s possible when intelligence is guided by compassion.

One Final Thought
Technology doesn’t define the future.
People do.
Buddy is just one tool—but he’s a reminder of what’s possible when tools are built in service of humanity, not the other way around.
We’re glad you’re here.
And Buddy is too.
👋 Welcome to the conversation.
